All staff, students and volunteers sign an oath of commitment to these performance standards. Our yearly performance appraisals evaluate their effectiveness in meeting these expectations.

• On Attitude: We believe that we are here to serve our residents by meeting their needs with compassionate care and courtesy. This commitment must be reflected in our behaviour.
• On Appearance: We consider our residents’ expectations in how we present our Villa residence and ourselves. This commitment must be reflected in our manner, expression and attire.
• On Commitment to Co-Workers: We are linked to one another by common purpose: serving our residents and our community. This commitment must be reflected in our respect for each other.
• On Communication: We are committed to attentive listening in order to respond sensitively to our residents’ and families’ needs. This commitment must be reflected in our verbal and non-verbal actions.
• On Confidentiality: We promote the dignity of the person by respecting his/her personal information and story. This commitment must be reflected in our use of privileged information.
• On Etiquette: We contribute to a positive experience for everyone when we recognize that every interaction is a unique opportunity to value one another. This commitment must be reflected in our good manners and excellent service.
• On Privacy: We ensure our residents’ right to privacy and modesty and abide by the Personal Health Information Protection Act. This commitment must be reflected by maintaining a trusting and secure environment.
• On Resident Calls: We are responsible for answering resident calls promptly. This commitment must be reflected in our supportive response.
• On Waiting: We recognize that time is valuable. This commitment must be reflected in our sincere communication and prompt service.
• On Safety Awareness: We all share in the responsibility of maintaining a safe environment in the least restrictive and intrusive ways possible. This commitment must be reflected by our attentiveness to ensure the safety and security of residents and staff.
• On Sense of Ownership: We take pride in what we do, contributing to the quality of life in the Villa and taking responsibility for the outcomes of our efforts. This commitment must be reflected by the recognition that our work is an outward expression of ourselves.
